CONCEPT CITYBUS
Citybus is a signature for minibus moving through the CITY, inner part of the town.
Project of the MINIBUS (small urban bus) arose from the necessity of supplement tram, bus or trolley bus transport and metro.
The designed concept is defined to complete public transit for Prague.
Therefore it’s considered as a very slowly noiselless nonconventional MINIBUS transporting the passengers just in the certain supplementary stages in the CITY (Prague).
For Prague there are especially location:
VYSEHRAD, PRAGUE CASTLE, NERUDOVA STREET, NA PRIKOPECH STREET, THE OLD TOWN and also parks – STROMOVKA, LETNA, etc…
In the advanced countries of the world there’s a number of these means of transport. The matter of course is an easy access.
For example: The french concern IRISBUS developed new serie of low-floor, unconventional on-road means of transport -> CIVIC
This vehical is based on available technical equipment:
Optical stearing, pneumatical control of the rolling motion of the vehical in the bus-stop, automatical-optically parking, etc…
Designed concept is identified with this CIVIS bus mostly.
Dimension of classic minibus in the limits (width x lengh x high) :
2,2 m x 8,8 m x 2,83 m
Dimensions can be enlarged through the technical perfection by these designed CITYBUS (w x l x h) : 2,3 x 8,84 x 2,9(3,0) m
Long wheelbase : 5,68 m
Short wheel base of front wheel : 1,86 m
rear wheel : 1,54 m
Number of seats : 14+3 (folding bengh)
Number of stands : max. 36 persons
New concept of CITYBUS should be the synthesis of :
- technical perfection
- confusion with the town scape (Prague)
- technical implementation -> it could follow up czech tradition of quality
DESIGN
Design of the concept comes from the architect’s hand. Designer – architect declares this in the whole shape of the bus. The concept is in fact the fight beetwen architecture and design – Where design ends and where the architecture begins.
That’s the answer to the everlasting question why the architect deals with the kind of such design and actually design at all.
A lot of contemporary concepts are often influenced by actual modern technologies and design.
Diverse factors from human activities branches enter into general designing :
Biology, chemistry, physics, virtual environonment, music, variability of motion and shapes, etc..
CITYBUS has got many of such inner aspects ranging from the mind of the creator (designing is very soulful activity of the composers).
The shape of the CITYBUS derived from linear motion of the vehicles. Circular movement retained only by turning. Rotation of the wheels isn’t considered because of the going proximity of the persons (for example : pedestrian zone).
The wheels are enclosed in all concept.
Anyway circular movement of the wheels belongs to every means of the transport thus it isn’t left out of consideration – that’s impressed into the ortogonal elevation face.
We could imagine hardly any means of the transport without important. Spinning wheels.
The concept doesn’t condemn this aspect but there’s an effort to create it visually and to shift it into further idea’s dimension.
In the frontal section of the bus there’s found a dominant circle at whole hight which simulates the contact with the road surface and the movement edging the road.
Hovever the circle is intercepted by wide band enlacing the bus and it links up to the fender’s shape forward and behind.
This band is located at the high of 860 milimeters.
The construction is the farther dominant component.
That’s shaping as 10 centimeters band by ortogonal faces.
Thanks to such construction’s interpretation the CITYBUS could be equiped by large body glazing (also in the overbus section).
The bus appears then very transparently moving through the city.
